Legendary Mike from the Swu Cru here, friends!
Unless you’ve been on the International Space Station, you will have heard of the Road Show program being put on by FFG in order to drum up hype for Star Wars: Unlimited. The majority of the Swu Cru was lucky enough to attend one at our FLGS this previous Saturday. It was a drizzly and overcast day, but inside the store, it was warm and fun!
The majority of the people for the event showed up right when the store opened to find the playing tables set up with the starter decks, shield and experience cards, and damage dice set up for us, which was nice. People were able to sit where they wanted and enjoy a friendly game of Star Wars: Unlimited. There was a good mix of new and experienced players. For the 1st round, I got to play with a great guy named Michael and we had a great time getting to know the mechanics of the game and I got to share where I and the rest of my friends would be playing for our weekly league.
There was enough of the Luke and Vader Promos for everyone to get either a Luke or a Vader, and I was glad to go home with my schmancy Luke “Event Exclusive” Skywalker. If you have a Vader, hit me up so we can work out a deal. Overall it appeared that everyone was happy with getting something. The only downside of the promos was once everyone had their copy, they just left. I stayed to play two more games, one with Jonathon Swuft and another with our mutual friend, Jimmy. Both cleaned my clock, but it was a great time had by all!
I can’t go on more about how great it was to be with friends playing a fun game. I caught up with some other friends, Landon and Corey, that I hadn’t seen since before the plague from the bad ole days of Star Wars: Destiny. I loved meeting new people and was thrilled to be playing with physical cards in my hands and sitting across from a real opponent rather than on TTS or Force Table.
There’s nothing like being at an event and I look forward to the many tournaments, leagues, and other events in our future. Check back in with us later as we get ready to cover another learn to play event AND Pre-Release day in March, baby!
