Soak Up the Surefire Standouts: Vigilance in Draft

Here you are again. Vigilance is probably one of your two best Aspects, so you are drafting in that direction. But what to take? What cards will get you over the finish line? Heroic or Villainous, it doesn’t matter. The following five alignment-free choices will boost any Blue-tinged draft deck.

5. Entrenched

This card offers fantastic value as a 2-for-1-for-2… or a double edged sword. Sure, you can give a card +3/+3, but it can no longer attack bases. OR… you can keep a Unit from attacking bases, but it will gain +3/+3.  At a cost of 2, this versatile Uncommon is something that you probably don’t want to let pass you by if you are of the Blue persuasion.

4. Takedown

“Boot to the Head!” This card is more than it’s dynamic art. Being able to defeat a unit that has 5 or less remaining HP for a cost of 4 is a great value anytime. In Limited play, the value of “Takedown” goes up as most Units will be sitting under that threshold. This is an Uncommon, so don’t kick back if it wheels your way.

3. Cloud City Wing Guard

Prepare to see your fill of this Common mustachioed muscle man in Limited play. While his cost is a little higher than I’d like at 3, putting out a Sentinel’d character will usually delay your opponent’s win condition by at least one turn. Throw in some Shields or Health buffs (both of which Vigilance has plenty of), and the Wing Guardian Leviosa over here can soak up some damage and keep your base safe.

2. Repair

Any card that can push you away from the brink is good. Any Common card that can do this is better. Any one cost common card that can stand between you and OP Oblivion is a must-draft. If you have a Unit getting worked over (but not one-shotted), “Repair” can throw a spanner in your opponent’s plans. It can also count as an additional 3 health on your base. Having a 33 HP base seems like a pretty good advantage to me.

1. 2-1B Surgical Droid

One of two Units on this list, you will see a lot of this droid in your limited events. The ability to heal 2 damage from other units gives this droid an honorary Sentinel status as most people don’t want to leave him in the field for too long. I would expect anyone who is playing Vigilance in draft will soak these Common beauties up Bounty Quicker Picker Upper style when they wheel around to their side of the table.

As you prepare for your first (or next!) Star Wars: Unlimited draft event, it’s important to keep some cards from each Aspect in mind. These five Vigilance cards can keep your Units safe, or do the opposite for your enemy’s. Don’t hesitate to experiment and discover your own winning formula. Did I get some cards wrong or, even worse, am I missing an obvious choice outright? Let us know in the comments below. No matter which Aspect you end up with or which cards you draft, remember to get out to your local stores and enjoy the Limited Unlimited!

Maybe I misread the rules, but my understanding is you can’t heal bases beyond their starting health.

No, you didn’t. I should have been more clear in how it was written. I just meant a total of 33 HP because you will get to heal 3 damage off at some point with this card. You are absolutely correct though. I cannot heal a base to over 30 starting health.
